Day 01: Arrival – Siem Reap (D)

You will receive a warm welcome from your guide when you arrive at Siem Reap International airport. Your guide will then take you to your vehicle for transfer to the hotel for check in. After you have had a chance to freshen up you will be met by your tour guide to begin your tour. Firstly you will visit the Roluos Group. The Roluos Group are the earliest temples of the ancient Khmer civilisation within the Angkor area. The Roluos Group consists of 3 temples: Bakong Temple Mountain with elaborate carvings on the false doors and lintels. The Funerary Temple of Preah Ko and Lolei Temple which has the most exquisite carvings and inscriptions. Your stay will be overnight in Siem Reap and includes dinner.

 

Day 02: Siem Reap – Angkor Temple Complex (B/L/D)

After a hotel breakfast you will set off to one of the areas most beautiful temples, Ta Prohm. Ta Prohm retains much of its mystery as it has remained relatively untouched since its discovery. Within Ta Prohm is Neak Pean, a fountain constructed in the middle of a pool, representing a paradisiacal Himalayan mountain lake. Following this is the small but classical temple, Ta Som. Built in the late 12th century C.E. Ta Som is the most distant temple on the grand circuit. Finishing the morning off with a tour of Preah Khan temple built by King Jayavarman VII. Preah Khan shares similarities to Ta Prohm with its towered enclosures and figure hugging corridors. However Preah Khan remains in a relatively reasonable state with on going renovation helping to maintain and improve the site. After a break for lunch you will visit the unique interior brick structures of Prasat Khan, Srah Srang or the "Royal Baths" which were once used for ritual bathing, Banteay Kdei which is surrounded by four concentric walls and Ta Keo the first temple built wholly of sandstone in the late 10th to early 11th century CE. Overnight stay in Siem Reap hotel. The day includes breakfast-lunch-dinner.

 

Day 03: Siem Reap – Angkor Tours (B/L/D)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then visit the antique capital of Angkor Thom. Consisting of the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk. Bayon Temple unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. The Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. After an inclusive lunch it will be time to visit the most famous of all temples on the plains of Angkor. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world and the temple complex covers 81 hectares of land. This compares in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. This 12thcentury masterpiece is considered by historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Its 5 towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian Flag. Finishing off the day with a wonderful sunset from the top of Phnom Bakheng before returning to the hotel for overnight accommodation and dinner. The day is iclusive of breakfast lunch and dinner.

 

Day 04: Siem Reap – Boat Trip - Kampong Thom (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the hotel the morning tour will commence with a boat ride on Tonle Sap lake. Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia and flows into the Tonle Sap river before joining the Mekong river in Phnom Penh. The floating village on Tonle Sap moves from place to place following the currents and water levelsLike most land villages you will see schools and police stations however they are floating on the Tonle Sap. In the afternoon and in the company of your English speaking guide you will travel by bus to Kampong Thom. This trip takes around 2 hours passing lakes and through country villages. On arrival in Kampong Thom you will check into the hotel for overnight accommodation and dinner. This day includes breakfast, Lunch and dinner.

 

Day 05: Kampong Thom – Sambor Prei Kuk - Phnom Penh (B/L/D)
This morning starts with breakfast at a local restaurant before heading off on the main road towards Phnom Penh. You will pass through villages before reaching the hidden Prasat Sambo Prei Kuk located about 40kms from Kampong Thom. Sambor Prei Kuk was the most important Khmer capital in the pre-Angkor era. Reaching the temples requires some walking through small trees and bushes. After lunch the afternoon will be taken up with the drive to Phnom Penh which can take up to 5 hours. Accommodation will be at a hotel in Phnom Penh with dinner included. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included in this day.

 

Day 06: Phom Penh City Tour (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the hotel you will begin to see the sights of the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh starting witthe Royal Palace. The Royal Palace was built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old township. Within the grounds of the Royal Palace you will visit the Silver Pagoda so named for its floor consisting of 5000 silver tiles. the tour will then move onto the National Museum which is considered one of Phnom Penhs' true architectural gems. The National Museum is instantly recognizable with its warm red terracotta and its gracefully curved roof, topped by dozens of guardian nagas. It was designed in Khmer style in 1917 by famed French architect Georges Groslier & Ecole Des Arts Cambodgiens. In the afternoon you will visit areas that expose some of Cambodias chilling events of the past such as the Killing Fields at Choeung Ek and S-21 the notorious Khmer concentration camp. Then off to the Russian Markets where you can pick up a traditional krama. A very versatile piece of clothing similar to a scarf but with a multitude of uses. 

 

Day 07: Phom Penh – Sihanoukville by private bus (B)

08:00 hrs - Your driver will transfer your group to Sihanoukville
12:00 hrs – arrive in Sihanoukville for hotel check in.
Rest of the day is at your leisure to enjoy the sites, shopping and beaches.

This day does not include lunch or dinner.

 

Day 08: Free - Sihanoukville (B)

Breakfast at hotel
Rest of the day is at your leisure to explore Sihanoukville. You may like to organise a boat ride to the close by islands for snorkeling on the reefs.

Day 09: Sihanoukville - Phnom Penh - Departure (B)
Breakfast at hotel
Departure time for Phnom Penh will be advised the night before. The tour ends with delivery to the Phnom Penh International airport where the tour concludes. If you are continuing your stay in Phnom Penh arrangements will need to be made for accommodation at your own expense.
